Cameron Highlands Trip 05 – Let’s Go!

Yay, finally we’re on the way to Cameron Highlands. We started our journey from Penang at 10am in the morning, and we are expecting to reach there by 2pm in the afternoon. Dad says that we are NOT going to go there using the Tapah exit from the North South Highway, since the road from Tapah to our destination has lots of turns and sharp climbs that will make everyone sick.

Instead, dad decided to take the Simpang Pulai route which tend to be longer, but make passengers less nauseous ;) Oh yup, and I forgot to mention that this is the only combined family trip with my 1st uncle (maternal side) in this year! Woohoo~ :)

After spending 3 hours in the car, we finally feel the cool air at the height of 4000+ feet when we get down from the car to have lunch. And the place we are haivng our lunch in only part of Cameron Highlands. Let me tell you that Cameron Highlands to much bigger then Genting Highland, as it is set among the fold mountains on a sturdy plain (with some steep valley).

A screenshot outside the car. It is the first village you can see when you use the Simpang Pulai route from Ipoh

At first, my cousin sisters and me are expecting to see hotels everywhere on Cameron Highlands, just as in Genting Highland. And we didn’t expect it turned out to be a agricultural and tourism based highland resort! From the picture above you can see clearly that those are plantations with some, erm, slums.

Getting down the car for lunch. The one dancing in front is my youngest cousin sister.

As all of us are new to Cameron Highlands except for my mom and grandparents (yup they followed us to this highland resort). But they came here like eons ago and can’t remember the exact scenery and roads on Cameron Highlands. We walked along the busy main road that lead to Cameron Highaldn, just to find a decent restaurant where we can feast and fill our stomach for a longer journey. According to dad, our rented apartment is sitll 67km away from where we are! :o

Sititng down for lunch.

It is surely great to enjoy coconut juice at high ground! ;)

*Burps* Yummy and full.

We came from the right (Simpang Pulai, Ipoh), and have to have towards the left to reach our destination.

After 2 more solid hours, we finally got to rest our foot on solid ground again. Along the way we got pass Brinchang (the highest point of Cameron Highlands) and finally reached Tanah Rata, where our rented apartment is located. Along the way, though feeling very nauseatic :(, me and my cousin sisters are worrying about the quality of the rented apartment. We got this trauma after renting an apartment lot at the Rai Apartments on Genting Highland years ago as the aparment was God damn filthy and unhygenic. But grandma said that she stayed in the rented apartment before and she says it was clean. We really do hope so.And yup, when we reached at the apartment, we are surprised!!!!

The living room.

Omigosh, there are even cleaned plates for us to use! :D

The sparking clean dry kitchen.

Super-tidy bedroom (there are 3 bedrooms in total).

And the toilet looks clean too! :) No worries about cleaniness anymore!

Unloading all the food stuff we brought on the dining table.
Grandma must be very worried about starvation! ;) She brought SO MUCH!!!

However, shortly after we shifted into the apartment lot, I heard my cousin sister screaming in the toilet – the water is very COLD!!! We tried the water, and it feels icy cold, just like liquid nitrogen. The toilet seat feels like sitting on bare ice, scaring us that our butt might get stuck on it while doing “business”. *Brrrr* and the toilet tiles feels like liquid oxygen!!! Washing your face with tap water feeling like torturing your face with liquid helium based SK2 10X pitera mask. ;)After having a cooling afternoon nap to chase away the nauseatic feeling, we gained some energy to have a evening walk around the apartment area. The apartment block we are staying is not the only one in the estate… we see lots of blocks over there.

The estate is built along the valley, so you can see the steep gradient betweent the apartment blocks and the barbeque pits.

Just for fun. The drain.

The playground, which we are not interested in (except for my younger brother).

Omigosh, my first photo on my blog. Guess which is me?
Later at night, we departed for Brinchang, which is 7km away from our rented apartment located at Tanah Rata. There is a long row of steamboat shops which are so desperate for customers at Brinchang. We settled at one of the CHEAPEST one, but in the end we felt that the food served was also the LOUSIEST one.

Steamboat shop. CHEAPEST rate, LOUSIEST food.

Steamboat ;)

Burppp~~~~

Back in the apartment, my cousin sisters and I spent some time on playing cards and chatting. A few minutes after we starting to chat, we fell asleep. *zzzz*

Proceed to Exciting Morning

Hello Easter Egg hunter! You've discovered the magic of the Konami Code!

Yea. You probably know what the Konami code is before getting to this page. So now what? Here is a randomised YouTube video on my favourites list... which includes Rickroll, if you're luck enough to get it.

You are currently watching DJ Earworm - United State of Pop 2009. Loving it? You can even watch the video in its full screen glory :)
