Nominated! Best Hidden Gem.
I slowly trudged my way back to the hostel. Logging into Gmail and I was readily served with a handful of emails to comb through again. A mail sent from my contact form caught my attention – it read ‘Nuffnang’ in the title and out of curiousity, I opened it up.
Golly. I’ve made my way into the five nominees listed for the Best Hidden Gems award for the Nuffnang’s Asia Pacific Blog Awards. I was totally thrilled and flabbergasted.
I’ve been blogging for more than 5 years and this is my very first time participating in a blog competition – let alone being nominated as one who deserves a certain award. Then Dayna came to my mind – she nominated my site for the awards a week or so ago before the nominations closed. Woah, thank you Dayna! She sent a direct message to be on Twitter informing me that she nominated my site and all I could say was thank you :) I didn’t even hear of the awards before she told me about it.
So, a big thank you to those who’ve nominated and voted for me :) you can follow the voting link here. To submit your vote, you’ll have to select one blog of choice from each category, and you can submit your vote every 2 hours.
Oh, and you should check out the nomination acceptance entries of Lollili and Chien – gotta love their illustrations :) too bad I’m not good at it. All my recollections of art assignments back in my kindergarten and elementary school years boil down to one thing – mom helped out.
I hate repeating myself but gosh, it’s a golden opportunity and I’m so honoured to be part of it. Thank you Dayna for the nomination and all of you for your votes :) I shall resume my updating schedule by tomorrow.

Yeap I will be attending the ceremony on the 23rd of October. It’s going to be a black tie event and now I have to get a new outfit for that, haha! Of course, I will take photos and share!

I stumbled upon the nuffnang awards site awhile ago but shrugged it off thinking it’ll only be flooded with the same old pack of A-list bloggers we all already know. Now I totally regret that I could’ve nominated you, Teddy!

Thanks Ember! Nah, I don’t think I’m good enough to qualify for best design and best photography. There are so many professionals out there and I’m stilll learning how to get these straight, hah!
Oh, I’m pleasantly surprised by the nominee list for the awards too – the old pack of A-list bloggers weren’t completely hogging every single vacancy in every imaginable categories – perhaps they wanted a breath a fresh air for the competitions. Afterall, things can get a little boring if people keep seeing the same few bloggers vying after awards, right?
I can see that you’re very busy with school and it’s really okay if you just drop by and read.

Yep, there’ll be a black tie red carpet ceremony on the 23rd of Oct for the awards. When I think of this date I couldn’t help but get cold feet! I’m extremely nervous and vulnerable when it comes to meeting a huge group of new people, and more importantly being in the limelight. My lifestyle is more like that of a reclusive ninja, teehee!
LOL! A Reclusive ninja — I love that! :P Aww, you’d do just fine! You know you’re going to win so you might as well just deal with being in the limelight. :P Seriously, it sounds like a lot of fun! I’m like you though, I don’t enjoy much attention & I’m quite shy.. but even though it’s stressful at times, being in the limelight would be great sometimes. :) Especially if you deserve it!
