I’ve been dreaming of doing something nice to people who’ve been a huge inspiration to other designers like me – I know that I’m not good at reviews (I can’t harden myself to criticize on one’s work) but another way to appreciate what they’ve contributed to the creative pool of design is through linking and gallery-ing (created on the fly, sorry!) their works.
Matt Mullenweg @ Ma.tt
Matt announced his summer facelift for this blog over at Ma.tt on Twitter yesterday (knew about it through a retweet, thanks @frujo for the link!). I love the way he used striped backgrounds that are gentle, not too harsh on the eyes and doesn’t scream of attention. The colour tone is exceptionally soothing to the eyes, I’m totally digging in! Although I will miss his previous layout, this one is one notch better.
Ember @ tehCpeng.net
Ember used a single-column layout for his redesign, alongside with a contrasting dark background for the body and beige, texturized background for the content. A great way to draw attention to the content. Another plus is his use of earthy tones, which I’m a huge fan of. Ember is a photographer and is currently working on his 365 project, so do give him some love over at his photoblog.
Maria @ ofrainbows.com
Maria, a friend I know a few year ago, is a rainbow lover – her past designs are centered around rainbow hues without being too distracting – and she’ve outdone herself again in her latest website. Ofrainbows.com is Maria’s compilation of her online presence – her blog (she affectionately calls it Jotter), photography works, portfolio and etc.
Ivy @ nanyate.com
Nanyate gave her blog a facelift earlier this year – she kept the Japanese-feeling of her previous layout and came out with a three-column layout which is lovely. Ivy was one of the designers who’ve experimented with horizontal designs – check her Miss.IvyTan.net out!
Dale Anthony @ daleanthony.com
Dale is a web / graphic designer who just got a new dSLR and is venturing in the field of photography. Dale also started his 365 project shorter after getting his hands on his first dSLR – check out his Project 365 Flickr set!
Fred Yates @ fyates.com
Fred runs a simple, but very elegant site. Oh, and he blogs too!
Fabio Sasso @ abduzeedo.com
I first stumbled upon Fabio’s site when looking for photoshop tutorials – his tutorials are handy, useful and easy to follow. He also plugs websites and other stuff on a weekly basis, so do check out his highlights!
Fubiz @ fubiz.net
Fubiz runs a website that compiles the latest design trend – and it’s not only web design that the site focuses on. Spanning furnitures to graphic design, advertisements to garments, it’s one of the greatest inspirational design galleries you will ever come across. Fubiz had undergone a revamp earlier this year as well, giving you the awesome Web 2.0 minimalist look.
Adam Spizak @ spizak.com
Adam designed his site with a combination of Flash and XHTML – the header navigation is exceptionally interesting to play around with. The hover effects are awesone, and I like how the way he highlighted his content by using a bright background in contrast with a dark body background. Sweet!
Carbonica @ Carbonica.org
This pastel-coloured layout is definitely one of my favourite – I love their typography and colour scheme a lot – the faint green that is not too neon but not too dark.
Recommendations?
That’s all for this post! If you have other websites to recommend, feel free to post them in the comments ;)

Nice collections! Abduzeedo does sounds like my name, Abdusfauzi. Hehe, maybe, one day I might be the competitor. Haha.

@abdusfauzi: That was exactly what I had in mind when I first stumbled upon his size. Abduzeedo and Abdusfauzi. LOL!
Anyway, good luck with your new WP theme!
Nooo Teddy you did not just include my blog! =\ I’m so flattered! It really is an honor, my friend – to be featured on your already awesome blog and along with these beautifully designed websites!
I particularly love Maria’s Ofrainbows.com! Really gorgeous illustrations from top to bottom and not to mention a very interesting way of displaying different types of blog posts she has. Ingenious!
As for Matt Mullenweg’s redesign, I wasn’t that fond of it at first sight but through time I find myself really warming up to it. I was also already a great fan of his previous design and this one is just as awesome, if not better!
Once again, thank you so much, Teddy! =D

@ember: You’re welcome, it’s my pleasure! Seriously, my blog isn’t that awesome, and in fact you’re one of the bloggers that I look up to! Stop being so humble – you know you’re awesome, heh! your theme is one of the best ones I’ve ever come across, really.
Maria’s designs are always inspiring – not to forget that she’s very good at interior design and is a graduate of a design school. She’s very good at colourful, scrapbook-like designs.
The old one is definitely awesome, I have to agree on that! The new one has a really huge header (some people thinks it has violated the no-big-header rules) and takes quite some time to load. Eeeks.
You’re welcome!
Hey Teddy!
Thanks for the feature! I’m totally digging spizak.com , the colors of the menu are all too awesome!

@Ivy: You’re welcome, Ivy! I’ve been wanting to feature your latest redesign but didn’t have time to do it. I hope it isn’t too late! Spizak’s got a really colourful but not distracting layout – impressive!
